Heather Hebert

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Heather is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who began working at Applied Behavioral Consulting in May 2025. An Athens native and proud “Double Dawg,” Heather earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 2013 and her Master’s degree in Special Education (Adapted Curriculum) in 2017 from the University of Georgia.

Originally on the path to becoming a physical therapist, Heather’s career direction shifted after a study abroad experience in Ireland. While working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, she discovered her true passion. Upon returning, she completed her undergraduate degree but continued seeking opportunities to serve individuals with special needs.

Heather went on to work as a paraprofessional and then as a special education teacher while completing her graduate studies. After finishing her Master’s program while teaching in an intensive ABA classroom, she became certified as a BCBA in 2019.

Since 2012, Heather has worked in a wide range of educational, community, and clinical settings, supporting individuals from early childhood to young adulthood with diverse abilities and diagnoses. Over the years, she has served in many roles, including caregiver, camp counselor, paraprofessional, special education teacher, autism specialist, behavior specialist, and BCBA, which have given her a well-rounded perspective on the needs of children and families.

Heather is especially passionate about Functional Communication Training and empowering learners to advocate for themselves. Whether through verbalizations, gestures, sign language, picture cards, or AAC devices, she believes that every voice deserves to be heard. She is also deeply committed to trauma-informed, assent-based, and neurodiversity-affirming practices. Heather values collaboration with the individual, their families, other providers or stakeholders, and her colleagues to ensure each client’s program is individualized, holistic, and socially meaningful for both the child and their family.
